Change Lucy's Life

I never imagined the day that I stopped and talked to a stranger about her feral cats, that a friendship would develop. Meet Lucy C., my 88 year old friend. Over the course of time that it took to trap-neuter-release the feral cats around her house, we became friends. She is the type of person that always has a smile on her face, a funny story to tell and is just a pleasure to know.
In getting to know her, I learned that last winter, she had no heat! I know it sounds funny needing heat in Florida but it actually does get cold here (and it’s a damp cold that chills to the bone). She had to use multiple space heaters to try and keep as warm as possible. I’m sure you can imagine her shock when the power bill came. With every little setback, she gets overwhelmed but never gets discouraged. At that moment, I told her that she would not be without heat another winter!
My A/C guy went over to check out her system. He said her unit is at least 35 years old and said it was actually leaking traces of carbon monoxide into her house. He shut the gas to the furnace completely off to prevent any further leakage and gave me the news that the AC and Heat unit definitely needed to be replaced.
So it has become my mission to make this possible for Lucy. She’s excited thinking about actually having heat this year!!!
Any amount will help us get to the goal. Your compassion and generosity will enrich Lucy’s life in more ways than you’ll ever know. I just think "if this were my mom".....I'd hope there would be an advocate out there for her too.
I am so grateful for your support and want to thank you from the bottom of my heart!
