Chance's Heartbreaking Story

On March 10th, I came across a devastating post on Facebook about a painfully skinny dog tied to a fence, desperate for help. His frail body and hollow eyes told a story of neglect and suffering. I immediately reached out to volunteers in the community, hoping someone could step in. Thankfully, someone agreed to pick him up and bring him to me while I scrambled to figure out a plan.

When they arrived, they were met by Chance’s owner, K—a kind soul who is homeless but has done everything he could to care for Chance since their paths crossed. K explained that Chance had been dumped and abandoned. Despite having next to nothing, K took him in, feeding him and giving him what little comfort he could. K lives on a boat in someone's backyard, and when he leaves, Chance waits by the sidewalk for him to return—where the heartbreaking photos of him tied up were taken.

K is doing his best, but the reality is harsh. He loves Chance but lacks the resources to give him the care he desperately needs. When we offered to help, K was relieved and grateful. On March 12th, we arranged for an Uber to take Chance and K to Town and Country Animal Hospital. Chance was sent home with antibiotics and medicated shampoo. Thankfully, he tested negative for heartworm, but his malnourished body desperately needs to gain weight.

Kitty Puppy Alliance kindly stepped in as Chance’s medical sponsor. Since they are a small, new rescue, they can’t cover the full medical bill but were generous enough to allow us to use their account to make sure Chance gets the care he needs.

We still need help covering Chance’s medical expenses. The vet bills are already adding up, and we want to continue helping dogs like Chance, but we can’t do it without your support.
