As a cancer patient, I've come to appreciate how caregivers are critical to our care. It's so important they are well cared for through this process because we need them at their best when we are feeling at our worst. Chemo treatments last for hours upon hours—our caregivers sit by our side the entire time, ready to serve any request, without a complaint to be heard. I have the privilege of witnessing more than a dozen examples of these special, sacrificially serving people every week as I receive my treatments. It is my desire to replace the uncomfortably inadequate chairs available to our caregivers with a supportive chair that would allow them to sit by our sides in comfort.
Our goal is to outfit the infusion center at Illinois Cancer Specialists (Elgin Location) with new chairs for the caregivers that make their stay a bit more comfortable.
We have selected a simple chair design that incorporates a few important features:
• Space-saving footprint (2 square feet)
• Memory foam seat cushion
• Mesh flex back
• Arms with an integrated flip-up surface
• Heavy-duty construction & casters
Each chair costs $200.00 and we are hoping to raise enough money to buy 20 chairs for the Infusion Center. This will provide a chair for each caregiver plus a few extra.
Your gift of any amount will help make this project a reality. Please be sure to share this fundraiser with family, friends, and your social networks. Together, we can help make the journey through cancer a little more bearable.
