Celebration of Life for Cousin TL
My name is Jess Speer, and I'm the Volunteer & Outreach Coordinator at Asheville FM, where Cousin TL hosts Stank Free Radio, serves on the Board of Directors, and has been a mentor to many radio hosts and staff, including myself. TL has been a part of Asheville FM from the start and we consider him to be family. When we heard he was sick, we wanted to start a fund to help with expenses right away. Donations you make here will go straight to TL & D, I'm just helping them out because he's my cousin.
From Cousin TL himself:
Hey Cuz, I gotta tell it like it is.
The docs say my time is coming, and that it will probably be no more than a handful of weeks. We have asked all the questions, taken all measures possible and have done all we can do since the end of March, when we found out there may be something serious going on (but had to wait until mid April for it to be confirmed). Even then, they thought I’d have more time. I am not in pain but it would not only be dangerous, but also a lot of maintenance even after this short time, for me to be going home. I am in the hospital right now (with my Donetta who has been by my side all along) and I am most probably transferring to a hospice center tomorrow where she and I can enjoy as much dignity, comfort and quality of life as I can squeeze out of whatever time my body has left.
We are also so grateful that I will probably hang in there for visits with close family and friends, at a manageable pace, balanced with some rest, of course. We ask that Dee be given support, but also, the space to finish out the school year and she says she wishes to focus on me as much as possible.
A lot of friends ask, what Do you need? What can I do?
If you, in any way, can help Dee with my end-of-life and celebration-of-life expenses, this is the spot.
Peace, Two Fingers,
Your Cousin TL
