Celebrating the Life of Deuce
Donation protected
On January 8, 2023, my sweet, little grandson, Christopher, passed away while waiting for a heart transplant. Christopher, affectionately known as Deuce, was four and a half years old. He was born with HLHS, a type of CHD. Despite his complex medical journey, which included 4 open heart surgeries, a G-tube placement, a stroke, a Berlin Heart placement and several hundred hours of rehabilitation therapy, Christopher was the bravest boy I know.
While Christopher endured more than most in his short life, his smile and laugh lit up every room. He was a caring and compassionate person who always thought of others. He is and was truly loved by all.
As a dual military couple, Christopher’s parents used their skills and knowledge to advocate for their son. Collectively, they have 5 tours of duty. Christopher’s parents loved him unconditionally, sacrificing all to care for Deuce. I watched as they were present with him for every hospital visit, outpatient procedure, clinic visit, and therapy treatment. This last hospital stay was no different; they were present every day for a total of 230 days, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Since the earth was blessed with Deuce’s presence, he has not been alone. We thank God for every cherished moment.
These funds will help with the expenses for Deuce’s Celebration of Life, medical bills, and final expenses. In addition, it will also assist with leaving a lasting, tangible legacy. While Deuce’s physical fight is now over, we will make sure he is able to impact the lives of others forever. #FightLikeDeuce
