Catastrophic event in our beautiful Manning Valley
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Katrina and I am usually providing nursing care services for our elderly within our community, but am instead isolated but safe, and watching this horrendous flood event unfold before our eyes. The Manning River is a huge river system which has now broken all previous historical levels and has caught many people out, who normally are not affected by flooding, ever. So many communities are isolated on islands due to the merging of multiple swollen creeks systems. I am also part of our dynamic farming community and I have no words for the dairy/ beef farmers who have moved cattle to what is usually higher ground, to discover this has not been enough. Livestock are being washed up on our beaches, some alive and others not so lucky. Emergency services are struggling with the enormity evolving. Please, please, please, those who are safe, if you can donate $1 , or your coffee money, this will add up and be able to be distributed to assist those who have suffered such loss. This is hurting across all levels, be it young families, businesses of which include multiple CBD's, our nursing homes normally safe along our beautiful river, and our hard working farmers who will have so much heartache once this subsides. Stay safe and check in on your neighbours if able to do so. Thank you to those out catching these images of this unfolding disaster.
