Hello everyone,
My name is Natalie. My house church Full Gospel Assembly - Vancouver team members (Humphrey and Anne Tio, Marina Rojas, Joey, Ngaire and Daniel McKenzie and Megan Lai) and I are going on a mission trip to an orphanage called Casa Alto Refugio in Puebla, Mexico.
Casa Alto Refugio A. C. is a true home for the children and teens who live in vulnerable situations, where they are given meals, medical, physiological care, diverse academic and life skill courses that give them the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills that they can use for their success in their future. Currently there are about 50 residents at the orphanage.
Full Gospel Assembly (Vancouver) supports the orphanage through sponsorships, donations and mission trips, and also makes contributions to projects with the goal of helping change the lives of children in need.
We are leaving to Mexico on May 19, and will be there for 2 weeks until June 2. Although we are paying our own way there, we need your help to raise funds for the activities and work we are doing this year.
These are as follows:
One, we will be relieving the house Moms from most of their daily kitchen duties and do the work (including going to the market everyday and cooking) for them instead. Before our trip, we will also buy kitchen smallwares and cutleries to replace or improve what they have in the orphanage's kitchen.
Two, we will be organizing an outreach with a local church to give gifts and help the poor around the area.
Three, we will be treating the House Moms, the pastor's family and some others to a lunch and dinner, and taking all the children on an outing.
Most importantly, this year we will also be helping to build a covered area there for them to hang their laundry, especially for the wet season to come. At the moment they are just drying it in the open but this will be problematic when it rains.This will include building a roof structure, cement flooring and gutter system. The cost is estimated to be about 5000 Canadian dollars.
By helping us, you are directly affecting the lives of the beautiful children in Casa Alto Refugio. Each dollar can make a difference and change these children's everyday life.
