***UPDATE***
It is with profound sadness that we share that Coen grew his angel wings on Sunday 2nd August, at 1:48am.
He slipped away in comfort and surrounded by so much love, with his parents Amanda and James right by his side and holding his hand, as he took his last breath.
We want to thank every one of you for your extraordinary support, love and generocity during the last couple of months. You gave the Drysdale family the opportunity to make incredible memories with their 2 beautiful boys and your kindness will not be forgotten.
We will keep the GFM open while preparations are being made to give Coen the send off he deserves so please if you are able to, share Coen's incredible journey with your loved ones.
Coen, you are the most brave little man I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Your family and friends are so proud of how hard you fought. Fly high, little man. You are so loved and will be missed dearly.
***UPDATE***
On Sunday night, 19th of July, Coen was complaining of horrible pain in his head, along with a few worrisome symptoms. Amanda and James rushed him to the Sydney Children's Hospital where they found out that there were more growths on Coen's brain as well as a blockage of CSF. Unfortunately now the best thing for Coen is to be kept comfortable and surrounded by his loved ones.
Today, Tuesday, 21st of July, he along with Amanda, James and his baby brother, Logan, will be moving in to The Bear Cottage where he will be on a palliative care plan and surrounded by love.
We want to thank you again for all of your support in this incredibly difficult time for the Drysdale family. I can't tell you what it means to them to be able to spend every moment they can with him until their angel grows his wings.
Hello everyone, my name is Cassie and I have started this fundraiser for our friends, the Drysdale family. My 7 year old son goes to school with Coen and he has quickly become one of his best mates. Here is his story.
Coen is a regular 7 year old boy. He loves NRL and his Cronulla Sharks, Pokemon, playing Mario Kart and singing along to music in the car. The thing that sets him apart from his mates at school though is that Coen has been fighting cancer for as long as he can remember.
In 2020, while the world was locked down, Coen's parent's heard words no parents should ever have to hear. He was 15 months old and diagnosed with Posterior Fossa Ependymoma, with cancer cells in his Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) causing multiple tumours within his brain. Over the next several years Coen would undergo 4 brain surgeries to remove multiple tumours, 3 rounds of radiation, 2 clinical trials and is now undergoing a round of oral chemotherapy in the hopes it will give him more time.
Coen's medical journey comes with expensive doctor's consultations, scans, medicines and supplements as well as so much time off work for his family to be with him. The cost of living these days is taking it's toll on everyone but more so for family's like Coen's.
He, along with his loving Mum, Amanda, Dad, James, and baby brother Logan, have been fighting so hard and now it's time for us to join the fight with them and help where we can. So if you are able, please donate anything you can, every dollar helps! Let's give this family some support in their time of need and bring a smile to Coen's face!
Thank you all for your kindness! I know it will mean the world to them!
