Cancer sucks, astronomical medical bills suck

What doesn’t suck is our ability to make a difference for a devoted wife, beautiful mother of four, lifetime friend, and dedicated, hardworking, beautiful soul fighting for her life.

My name is Carrie Murphy, and this is an effort to help my beautiful lifelong friend and cousin.

Glenda Lawver has been battling colon cancer and recently received devastating news after a second surgery. The first round of chemo is done; however, cancer marker numbers are rising. Pathology of a granuloma removed during the second surgery shows a few cancer cells but not enough to tell the entire story. There is something not showing up in the scans.

In a couple weeks, Glenda will be undergoing another colonoscopy followed the next day by a wide-open exploratory surgery. This will be an all-day surgery. They will take out anything and everything that looks suspicious in the abdominal area and colon. They will be doing a complete hysterectomy and oophorectomy, cholecystectomy (gallbladder), and omentectomy. Glenda will also undergo a 2-hour heated chemotherapy treatment while she is under anesthesia. As you can imagine, even though our bodies are remarkable creations, Glenda will be in ICU for 2-3 days and on a vent, followed by a 2 to 3-week recovery in the hospital with hopes that she will be able to complete a 12-week recovery at home. Glenda is hoping to be home by Christmas.

I created this GoFundMe for Glenda and her beautiful family to help with the medical bills and lost wages as she needs to put her all into recovery and not worry about financials.
