CAN YOU BELIEVE THEY STOLE MY CHAIR!!

My name is Aadil and I am an adaptive sports athlete.

A couple of weeks ago a cruel person stole my basketball wheelchair. The chair was being stored in the lower level of my apartment building. Shockingly, another resident took it; the area is not accessible to the public. This theft not only affected me, but my basketball team, the Rolling Fury and my family. I am one of 2 special needs children in my home and this is a major setback. I love playing sports because it allows me to enjoy the freedom of movement that most people take for granted. Sports increases my confidence and fosters my development overall. I am working on raising funds to replace my basketball wheelchair, which is an expense beyond my family’s reach.

I began my journey into adaptive sports at the tender age of 6. I was born with spina bifida, a condition that occurs when the spine and spinal cord don’t form properly. Doctors believed this would limit my physical abilities, but I showed an early determination that defied the odds.

By the age of 10, I began competing in local adaptive sports events, showing a competitive spirit. In 2022, I competed in the TriState Regional Games for track and field, and the Move United Nationals. My focus, resilience, and drive earned my first sets of medals, but it was just the beginning.

Now, at 12, I won numerous medals across multiple events. My repeated victories in the TriState Regional Games, Move United Nationals and the NWBA Jr Division Nationals are a testament not just to my athletic ability but to my unyielding spirit and refusal to let my condition define me.
