Cambodia Marine Conservation Adventure
My name is Kirsten Winsatt and I'm a sophomore at the University of Arizona currently studying Biochemistry. While in school, I am eager to use my summer break to travel and help others in third world countries.Last semester, I learned about a tremendous organization called Reach Out Volunteers, who is dedicated to changing the lives of third world inhabitants one village at a time. Recently, Reach Out Volunteers invited me to partake in their Marine Conservation Adventure, and I am currently seeking support to impact my global community.
The Cambodia Marine Conservation Adventure will be impacting a small fishing village on a Cambodian island. In this particular village, we will be teaching English to the local villagers, completing building projects, and helping to conserve the fishing practices of the island. The participants will also be receiving their PADI certification and using diving to record the regeneration of the fish and coral stocks that are now protected in the first officially designated marine zone in Cambodia. It will be an experience that will broaden my understanding of the world and enhance my education. As a college student in the sciences, this trip is very important to me. While I am getting my degree, I want to be able to see the world around me. By participating in this trip, I hope to gain more understanding of what people in my global community are facing. There are real world problems, and I want to be a part of the solution to helping them. This trip is just one step towards making the future brighter for the next generation.
The Cambodia Marine Conservation trip will have an immense impact on the
village. I will be directly involved in reshaping their village towards an
economically stable environment. I appreciate any consideration and support you
choose to give.
