The Truth Walk is a national campaign led by Professor S. Caroline Taylor AM - one of Australia’s most respected survivor advocates - to call for a Royal Commission into intrafamilial child sexual abuse.
In October 2026, Professor Taylor and a coalition of survivor-advocates will walk 750km from Melbourne to Parliament House in Canberra to present a national petition demanding action. This walk represents the long, isolating journey many survivors face - often without recognition, support, or justice.
While Australia’s previous Royal Commission addressed institutional abuse, it explicitly excluded abuse occurring within families - despite global evidence showing that approximately 50% of child sexual abuse is perpetrated by family members.
Intrafamilial abuse remains one of the most hidden and underreported forms of harm. Survivors often face stigma, disbelief, and systemic barriers to protection and justice.
This campaign seeks to change that - by securing bipartisan support for a new Royal Commission, establishing a National Survivor Council, and creating the first dedicated national inquiry into abuse within the home.
Your support will directly fund the Truth Walk - including safety and logistics, survivor participation, media outreach, and community engagement - ensuring this issue is brought into the national spotlight and cannot be ignored.
Professor Taylor has dedicated more than three decades to this cause, and is undertaking this walk as her final act of public advocacy.
This is an opportunity to help Australia confront a truth that has been overlooked for too long - and to stand with survivors in demanding recognition, accountability, and reform.
Support the Truth Walk. Help bring the truth home.
