Hi, my name is Kellie, and I am reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for help for my daughter, Caitlyn. Caitlyn is a strong, resilient young woman who has been fighting an invisible battle for years. From the outside, she may look fine, but behind her bright smile is a constant struggle with pain, sickness, and endless doctor visits that have left her and our family feeling hopeless at times.

For the past nine years, she has lived with excruciating pain and no answers. She has seen countless doctors, only to be dismissed, misdiagnosed, and told it’s all in her head. But she never gave up—she spent years researching, reading hundreds of medical papers, and advocating for herself when no one else would listen. After nearly a decade, she finally has answers: she has endometriosis.

Endometriosis is often dismissed as just a “bad period,” but it’s far more than that. It’s a complex, systemic disease where tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus, causing severe pain, inflammation, and potential damage to organs. It affects 1 in 10 women, takes an average of 10 years to diagnose, and causes infertility in 50% of those affected, yet it remains widely misunderstood and underfunded.

But there is hope. Caitlyn has finally found a doctor who listened to her and is ready to help. This doctor, an endometriosis excision specialist, located in New Jersey, and Caitlyn will need surgery to remove the endometriosis tissue and begin the healing process. This surgery is essential not only for her pain relief but also for her future, as it will improve her chances of being able to have children one day.

The only effective treatment is excision surgery, but it’s often not covered by insurance because there is no specific billing code for it—despite being the gold standard for treatment. This leaves many women, like my daughter, with no choice but to pay out-of-pocket and travel to see one of the limited number of specialists qualified to perform the surgery.

The road to healing is not easy. The surgery itself, travel costs, medical bills, and all the associated expenses are overwhelming. As her mom, I am doing everything I can to support her, but I can’t do it alone. This is why I’m asking for your help.
