Thank all for your interest, care, concern, love, encouragement and support of Burkley Adelayne. Her Mommy & Daddy love Burkley unconditionally for the beautiful person she is on the inside and out, and even more importantly, for the kind, inquisitive, loving and hilarious person she is inside! And I (her Mommy) hope as Burkley grows and develops into the amazing person I know she will be, she has the love and support of her friends and family through every step of her journey, regardless of how she looks on the outside.
Burkley has had 10 surgeries in the past 2 years, and will have another one by the end of the year. She averages anywhere from 4 to 5 surgeries annually, and this will continue for quite some time, maybe even the rest of her life. Burkley's surgeries range from $5000 to $25,000 each, depending on what is being attempted to alter her AVM. Her doctor's continue to alter her treatment plan and constantly try new procedures to stop or control her AVM. Each new procedure, ususally experimental, seems to grow in cost exponentially.
Burkley's AVM journey thus far would not have been possible without the unconditional support of my parents, Leo and Kay Burkhalter, and my best friend since the age of four, Michelle, a.k.a. "Nantie Shell". I've created this site to raise funds to off-set the out-of-pocket expenses we have and will incur with every trip to Little Rock. I sincerely thank everyone for your interest and
