Hello, my name is Liana, and I want to share with you the current story of my cousin and her husband, Kaitlin and Jarrett, who are dealing with cancer while 8 months into their pregnancy.


A month ago Kaitlin went to see her doctor because she had a small lump on her neck, and after several tests, scans, needles, and biopsies, she was diagnosed with stage two Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in the 7th month of her pregnancy. Over the course of the last month, the cancer had spread across her neck and was starting to press on her lungs, making her begin to wheeze and cough. She had surgery on the 22nd of February to have her Chemotherapy port inserted, but the doctors were very concerned with the size of her airway and the pressure of the lymph nodes pressing on her neck, so the cancelled the surgery and instead admitted her directly to the hospital to start Chemotherapy immediately that night.

 
Throughout this entire process, Kaitlin and Jarrett are most concerned with the health of their baby, and how each drug will affect their baby girl. Kaitlin and Jarrett do not want to induce early if they can help it, but the are both very frightened and concerned about Kaitlin’s heath and their baby girl’s health. This is supposed to be a fun and exciting time for Kaitlin and Jarrett.  They closed on their first house in January before they knew about the cancer. They are expecting their first baby, a beautiful baby girl in mid April. I want her to be able to take care of herself and her new born baby girl and not have to worry about all the expenses that will incur with the treatment for cancer.  I do not want to see them struggle with these things, as they are starting their lives together as a family. Since I am 1400 miles away from Kaitlin I feel like this is one thing I can do to help them out. 

 

They will have medical expenses every month, and with all of this going on, Jarrett has had to take off of work to take care of Kaitlin and soon the baby when she comes, any little bit will help them out!
