Building Alma Flamenca Dance Studio
Donation protected
My name is Roshanne de Silva Wijeyeratne and I am Director of Alma Flamenca Dance School and Compañía Alma Flamenca in Adelaide. The dance school has been running since 2003 through subleasing out of various dance studios belonging to other people.
I have traveled throughout the training and performing Flamenco and my school delivers authentic high quality Flamenco dance, song and percussion classes for adults and children of all ages, sharing this empowering element of Spanish culture with the Adelaide community. We perform for charities, functions, restaurants and provide performance opportunities for students of all ages.
We have grown an internationally recognised and award winning Flamenco music and dance ensemble who recently were awarded with the Adelaide Fringe Best Dance Weekly Award 2019 & 2021 and our company have been invited to New Zealand and our own WOMADelaide to perform.
We have so many exciting educational and performance opportunities ahead for our school and company and we find ourselves in need of a safe and secure dance studio space to deliver our Flamenco classes and develop our creative productions.
The cost of fitting the studio is immense, especially due to the particular flooring required for percussive Flamenco feet and we are looking for donations, funding and support to create this artistic space where we can support not only our creative endeavours but house other artists who are in need of a space.
Gracias!
