Hi! My name is Abenezer Solomon, and I am from Brooklyn, NY! I am helping my mom, Mebrat Lakew, with a project that she is working on with a church in Ethiopia. The church, Yenigus Dej (in English, Kings Gate Church), is located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Their mission is to reach out and share the Gospel in remote areas in Ethiopia and improve lives through community development.

Their current project for community development is to build a water well/source for the Dasenech people. They live in the Ocho Locho village in the Dasenech Woreda, the southwestern part of Ethiopia. Their current sources of water are Lake Turkana, boreholes, and shallow wells. The return trip from Lake Turkana can take about an hour, and it exposes people to serious risks, including the danger of abduction. The Kings Gate Church has undertaken the task of building a well that can be accessed by all community members and repairing the existing shallow wells to ensure they continue providing water reliably. The Kings Gate Church has done amazing work in also spreading the Gospel by providing audio Bibles, which were translated into their language, and also working on Educational Programs, Women's Empowerment, and Healthcare Outreach.

The construction plans have been completed, and the only remaining need is funding for materials, labor, and construction. Below are the breakdown costs for the construction of the well project.

1) Pipe cost: $955,195 ETB

2) Roto cost: $80,000 ETB

3) Transport, Loading, and Unloading: $220,000 ETB

4) 2 Public water points: $534,000 ETB X 2= $1,068,000 ETB

(Including stone, cement, sand, GS pipe, fence work, and all necessary works)

5) All works Labour cost: $1,763,800 ETB

6) Miscellaneous: $261,995 ETB

GRAND TOTAL COST: $4,348,990 ETB (~$30,395.43 USD)

We are currently inviting individuals, partners, and organizations to support this important effort by sponsoring the construction and maintenance of one water point for $4,348,990 Ethiopian Birr, which is approximately $30,395.43 US Dollars. We also welcome contributions in any amount toward the building cost, repairs, training for local water committees, or spare parts for upkeep. Your support will bring immediate physical relief and strengthen the long-term well-being of this underserved community. We are ready to provide additional documentation, arrange local visits, or discuss plans and priorities in more detail upon request.

Once the funds have been collected, they will be transferred directly to the church's account, where they will be able to fund the construction of the water well and maintenance of the existing wells to function perfectly.
