Brooklyn TransCore Eviction
Doação protegida
For the past year the Brooklyn Transcore punks have been sharing a rehearsal space with a few fellow Punk Island organizers and we collectively built in lofted storage to house all of the unwieldy equipment that we need for the all day, free, all ages, annual Punk Island event.
Last night we got notice that that all of the tenants in the basement of the rehearsal facility are being evicted as they are demolishing the basement to make repairs. To make matters worse, several of our comrades will be working across the country on the move out date. As this is coming as a complete surprise we don’t have anywhere to put all the shit for Punk Island that we have saved, hustled, and fund raised for over the years and we don’t have the money to put a deposit down on a new rehearsal space.
I hate, HATE, to have to once again asked an already strapped community for help but I don’t know what else we can do at the moment. We’re asking for some cash to cover a few months of storage while we look for a more permanent solution and to help us cover the cost of having to replace hundreds of dollars in lumber that we cut and cobbled into lofted shelves to fit the rental space that we had intended on remaining in indefinitely, which we aren’t able to remove or reuse.
If we had more time we’d offer up some sort of gift or incentive, but we need to make this happen and be done in the next 2 weeks. Anything you can do we will be eternally grateful for!!
