On October 23, 2019, Brittany Burkhead was diagnosed with breast cancer.
The past few weeks have been a blur. There have been a million questions, phone calls, doctor visits, emails and details to iron out. These last three weeks have been full of ups and downs, and treatment has yet to start. We’ve seen God provide in miraculous ways. Her oncologist and surgical oncologist are phenomenal. Yet we’ve seen some frustrating moments too. But Jesus has been faithful...to use Brittany’s own words, “He’s been consistent”...and we know He will continue to provide for Brittany, Justin, Gray, John Warren, Luke and Beau.
Brittany has had to set aside her nursing career for a time, as she undergoes a double mastectomy and the treatment that follows. The Burkheads have also needed to upgrade their health insurance to cover costs and allow them to use their preferred providers. There are a lot of unknowns in the coming weeks, but we stand firm with them in believing in God’s goodness, His provision and His healing.
If you know Brittany and Justin, you love them. We wanted to create a way for their friends to be a part of God’s provision in their lives at this time. Donations in any amount would be such a gift to the Burkheads. Not only will it help meet physical needs, it will also be a beautiful encouragement as they endure this journey. They are not alone and these donations will be a constant reminder of that.
Please also begin or continue to pray fervently for Brittany as she awaits surgery this upcoming Tuesday, November 19th. We boldly pray that all cancer will be removed, making further treatment unnecessary. We also pray for her to have complete peace of mind and heart. We pray that her children will adjust as best as they can to the upcoming changes in home life, and we pray for Justin as he continues to lead his family and work.
