This opportunity is about more than one play. It is an opportunity for local artists to represent Gainesville on a regional stage while demonstrating the power of original storytelling created within our community. The cast and creative team are proud to bring a story rooted in family, resilience, and human connection to audiences outside of Florida. Participating in the Elgin Fringe Festival is a rare chance for our team to share our work with new audiences and connect with other artists from across the country.

Why This Play Matters: Inspired by real-life experiences, Napkins tells the story of a daughter confronting her mother's declining memory while navigating family, responsibility, love, and loss. At its heart, the play explores the challenges many families face when caring for aging parents and loved ones living with dementia and memory-related illnesses. The story reminds us that even when memories fade, love, connection, and family traditions remain. Through humor, heartbreak, and hope, Napkins encourages conversations about caregiving, aging, family bonds, and the emotional realities experienced by millions of families every day.

We are raising funds to help cover airfare for our six-member cast and creative team, lodging during the festival, local transportation, meals and travel expenses, and production materials and props.
