Boards Across Borders!

Skateboarding in Guatemala has had uphill battles ever since it was introduced to Guatemalan society ranging from rejection and hostility to the lack of necessary skateboarding oriented infrastructure. But one of the main reasons skateboarding is so behind in Guatemala is due to the highly expensive access to skateboards and their hardware. Many Guatemalan children and young adults show an interest in learning more about skateboarding and trying it out for themselves. Unfortunately, it's almost impossible because new and used skateboarding materials are above people's spending capabilities. Guatemala is notorious for being one the worst countries to be a child in due to the extreme poverty rates, extreme hunger and starvation, lack of education and health services, violence and crime. Now, we know skateboarding won't erase any of the other urgent issues in people's lives, but anyone who's ridden a skateboard knows that inexplicable joy and refuge that only a piece of wood with wheels can provide. So help me provide that joy to someone who needs it and can benefit from it in different ways!

Thanks to the Chicago skate community's support, I've been able to stock up on a great amount of skateboard parts that will be extremely useful south of the border. As of right now I’m sending a box full of the donated equipment to Guatemala set to arrive in the first week of September. The box costs exactly $400 and I don’t have the capability right now to pay it in full. I made this in case anyone wants to help get all that equipment to people who need it sooner rather than later.
