Boxing for Kerry: Keep the Program Alive
Donation protected
Hi! My mom, Kerry, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2022. She was losing balance and becoming very tired throughout the day. Slowly, her health was deteriorating. Then she learned about a boxing program offered at Holy Name Hospital fitness center.
Ron O’Neill, a former NYPD Detective, was the boxing coach at the fitness center. He has over 20 clients and many have Parkinson’s Disease. He has seen such amazing changes in his clients with Parkinson’s disease. My mom’s balance is strong and she is not as tired anymore. Ron O’Neill is helping her prolong the awful
symptoms of this disease as well as lifting her spirits.
Recently an article was written about my
mom and the great things that this program is doing for people fighting Parkinson’s. I will link it below. A day after the article was published, Ron, her trainer, was let go. This means this program for my mom is in jeopardy of being taken away. My mom NEEDS this program. She trains 6-7 days a week because it makes her confident and strong. It helps her fight Parkinson’s mentally and physically. Ron has literally saved my mom’s life. He has changed her mindset and helped her gain confidence in addition to strengthening her body. I want to help my mom continue to box and help Ron continue to train so we can provide others with options to fight Parkinson’s. I figured the best thing was to reach out to others. The funds will go towards securing a place so that the program can continue not just for my mom, but others too!!
