Books, not Balances: Dee-Dee's Journey to Academic Success

Hello there! My name is Darryel Brown, but I go by Dee-Dee. I’m a rising junior at Howard University majoring in Accounting with double minors in Computer Science and Economics. I’m originally from Atlanta, GA, and I’ve worked hard to get to where I am but right now, I’m facing a financial challenge that could stop me from continuing my education.

I recently found out that I exceeded my cost of attendance, which prevented my financial aid from being applied to my account. As a result, I now have a remaining balance of $6,888. Until this is resolved, I can’t register for classes or possibly secure housing and the fall semester starts in just a few weeks.

I’ve been doing everything I can to manage my responsibilities, stay on track, and make the most of my time at Howard. I’m passionate about using my education to create real change, both in my community and beyond. But right now, I need help.
