We are the Bookers. Paul, Hannah, and Evelyn. Welcome to our adoption journey. We appreciate you taking the time to even look at our page and show interest in what the Lord is doing in our life and, above all else, we would covet your prayers as we prepare our hearts for what is to come.
Paul and I met in nursing school at Liberty University in 2012. It's amazing to watch how the details of two peoples lives can be orchestrated to fall into place together. We were married in January of 2015 and gave birth to our beautiful daughter, Evelyn, in June of 2018.
Adoption is something Paul and I both have felt a passion for and something that we had discussed for our future since before we were even married. In our perfect little life plan, we had decided this would probably take place for our last child and that it would be later in life when we were closer to paying our house off and where we wanted to be financially. Fast forward to January of 2019, the Lord started turning in our hearts. He has other plans. I (Hannah) started feeling this calling that "the time is now" but was honestly simply scared to say anything to Paul, knowing that his mind works based on logic and that he would likely feel that now was not practical. But over and over again, I felt a pull on my heart. For our anniversary in January, we took an overnight get away to Boone. On the trip up, we were talking about the current state of the abortion industry and our brokenness and feelings of helplessness. We were discussing what change would need to look like for a difference to really be made and the opportunity found in adoption. Paul looked to me and said "maybe we should do it now." I was in tears in a simple moment, as I screamed "YES!" I shared with him the weight the Lord had placed on my heart recently and there was no denying the journey that was ahead of us.
Through a friend at our church, we have gotten in touch with a local adoption agency, Lifeline Christian Ministries, and we are in the home study process, with hopes of our profile going live and being ready to be presented to expectant mothers by the end of October.
If you have read this far, God bless you and I thank you. We are SO excited that we have been chosen for this. We also have fears, nerves, and doubts. But we have seen the Lord work thus far and trust Him to continue to carry us through this.
We will be adopting domestically and hope to bring home a baby but are open to whatever the Lord calls us to, whether that be special needs, multiples (oh my!), and an ethnicity of any kind-we can't wait to meet our next precious son or daughter.
Again, we ask you to join us in prayer through this. Financial support is also needed. We will be doing fundraisers of different kinds but if this is something you feel led to support, we appreciate your donations from the bottom of hearts.
