Berks Sinfonietta

Tax deductible
Berks Sinfonietta is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving the Greater Reading and Berks County, Pennsylvania communities. Through our concerts, we bring new and unfamiliar music—including that by female, non-white, and living composers—to local audiences. We are a mentoring orchestra, meaning local students have the opportunity to rehearse, perform, and grow within the context of a paid, professional ensemble. Since the onset of COVID-19, we have introduced a Digital Concert Series, which has allowed us to safely continue our programs by using small groups of musicians and broadcasting performances into the homes of our audience.

Annually, we serve approximately 75 students and 75 local professional musicians, as well as 1,000 audience members through our programs. Our online concerts reach many more.

Our mission is to:

1) Expand the appreciation, and promote the art of classical music in Berks County.
2) Create an environment for intergenerational mentorship through music making.
3) Create a new audience for orchestral music in Berks County.
4) Develop an enriching educational experience for performers, students, and audiences.
5) Build community among players, between the orchestra and audience, and through interaction with the community at large.

When you make a financial contribution to Berks Sinfonietta, you are supporting the revitalization of classical music in Berks County. Here's why:

1) Berks Sinfonietta consists of skilled musicians from the Greater Reading/Berks County area. Your contribution directly supports and involves area youth and professionals, students and teachers, and your family and friends.

2) You are helping create new musical opportunity. Your contribution allows these players and the community at large to enjoy challenging repertoire, and to share in the joy of music making.

3) We strive to be accessible to new, younger, and more diverse audiences. A contribution demonstrates your commitment to the health and future of classical music in Berks County.
