"Becky Churchill Needs Your Help!"
Donation protected
My sister, Becky (Budge) Churchill, is in great need of your help. She is a single mom, guardian and caregiver of a son with Asperger's Syndrome (a disorder on the autism spectrum). She has a full-time job in the health and substance-abuse field that barely keeps the bills paid when things are going well.
Things have not been going well recently as a multitude of personal health issues have contributed to loss of work and stacks of medical bills that have not been covered by insurance. Because of her work income, she has been denied MaineCare and the benevolence programs offered by the local hospitals.
For starters, Becky suffers from an ongoing chronic condition called "Broken Heart Syndrome". Don't let that cute little name fool you. It is very serious condition and, although it is sometimes short-term, in Becky's case it is not. She has had to have a pacemaker/defibrillator implanted to assist her very weakened heart. You all know that this surgery is not inexpensive, not to mention the ongoing maintenance involved.
Becky was just released from the hospital this week after a fibroid tumor on her uterus burst, necessitating yet another costly surgery, a total hysterectomy.
Becky has also been diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in both arms. Surgery has been recommended for each arm and she currently does not have the financial ablility to get this surgery, needed to carry out the clerical aspects of her job.
Another ongoing disease that Becky deals with daily is diabetes. Expensive supplies are needed for monitoring blood sugar levels multiple times a day, not to mention quarterly blood draws and follow-up appointments.
Becky is trying to keep a roof over her head and she and her son fed. Even her modest rent and groceries are out of reach for her at this time. Her family will certainly be there to help out, but it is clear that even that will not make much of a dent in the bills for food, rent, utilities, hospital bills, insurance payments and transportation costs that she has incurred and will continue to incur during her convalescence and future treatments.
My sister has always been proud and has never asked for help before, but there comes a time when the white flag has to be raised and you have to lean on your friends and family for support. That time has come and we are asking - PLEASE HELP.
Another method to donate is to make a check out to Rebecca Churchill and mail it to the following address: Jeff Budge - 280 Fuller Road - Hermon, ME - 04401
Thank you so much for anything you can do.
