Help Ayden Soar Toward His Dreams
A Fundraiser to Support Ayden Ortiz’s Journey to Become a Pilot
Hi, my name is Auston, and I’m starting this GoFundMe on behalf of Juan and Ashley Ortiz, for their incredible son, Ayden, a brave, faith-filled teenager with an unshakable spirit and a dream of taking to the skies as a pilot. This fund will go directly toward helping Ayden pursue that dream, covering the cost of flight training and aviation education as he enters this exciting new chapter of life.
.
Ayden’s Story
Ayden’s journey has been anything but ordinary. It began in May 2023, during a city league baseball game, a sport Ayden loves and plays with passion. That night, he was pinch-running for a teammate and made an aggressive steal to second base, colliding with another player. Ayden popped up, unfazed, and finished the game like a champ.
But the next day, things changed.
He began vomiting repeatedly and complaining of a severe migraine. His parents, trusting their instincts, contacted his pediatrician and requested a CT scan just to be safe.
What that scan revealed was shocking: a brain bleed about the size of a golf ball, located just behind his ear. Ayden was rushed to Children’s Dallas via ambulance, where, after further testing and an MRI/MRA, doctors discovered something even more serious: Ayden had an AVM (Arteriovenous Malformation), a rare tangle of blood vessels in the brain that he’d unknowingly had since birth.
This condition is often symptomless until a trauma, like that baseball injury, uncovers it. Thanks to that moment, Ayden’s AVM was found. A miracle in disguise.
He spent six days in the ICU, began taking seizure-prevention medication, and started a journey filled with appointments, rehab, and faith. But Ayden, a strong-willed athlete, never lost hope. He was determined to become a walking testimony for others.
A Second Scare and Another Miracle
Months later, on November 17, Ayden’s family faced another terrifying moment. After a minor nosebleed, Ayden went back to bed but minutes later, strange sounds led his parents to find him unresponsive, eyes rolled back, blood and foam at his mouth, and his body convulsing.
Ashley and Juan’s quick action, prayer, and the grace of God brought him back.
That emergency uncovered the regrowth of the original AVM, an incredibly rare occurrence (only 2–9% of cases). While it was smaller than the first, it required immediate attention.
This week, Ayden will undergo Gamma Knife Radiation, a precise and powerful treatment with a 95% success rate. His medical team included some of the top specialists from Children’s Dallas and UT Southwestern... the "Dream Team" his parents had prayed for from the beginning.
Why We’re Fundraising
Today, Ayden is doing well and returning to the things he loves: playing baseball, fishing, and most exciting of all, taking flight lessons as he works toward his dream of becoming a pilot ✈️.
This GoFundMe will help cover the cost of Ayden’s aviation training and flight school expenses. It’s a way to fuel his dreams and celebrate the testimony that is his life, one that continues to reflect faith, strength, and perseverance.
Ayden is not just surviving, he’s thriving. Let’s help him take the next step and soar into the future he’s been dreaming about.
Please consider donating, sharing, and praying for Ayden. Every bit of support helps get him one step closer to the skies.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
