For those of you who know my mother Stephanie Rice, you may have heard that her fiancé, Kurt Davey, has moved on to a better place. He struggled from a long fight with emphysema, but went peacefully on Sunday, November the 10th.

Kurt and Stephanie have been together for over six years. They moved in together five years ago, and have been inseparable ever since. Four years ago, they added their dog Buford T. “Puppety-Pup” into their family. After moving into an apartment together, they loved and took care of each other as if they were already a married couple. Even when Kurt’s health seemed to take a turn, Stephanie always stayed with him in the hospital and cared for him at home.

Now that Stephanie is alone, she is left with an apartment she cannot afford by herself. Kurt was normally the one in-charge of making sure the rent was paid. However, they fell behind once he was admitted, leading to Stephanie receiving an eviction notice. She will need to swiftly vacate her apartment and relocate with her parents. Buford will be entrusted to his original owner in Tennessee, as dogs are not allowed in the home they’re renting.

This GoFundMe is to help Stephanie stay on her feet while she recovers from the heart break of losing her best friend and her dog. The apartment owners have allowed her to cancel the lease early, so long as she pays back the rent she owes. A majority of the funds will cover the rent, while the remainder will cover any other expenses during the move.
