Hi I am Tatiana, a student at the Kilachand Honors College at Boston University majoring in Psychology and Minoring in Advertising. With that being said, you can imagine the tuition is costly, especially with the extracurriculars and opportunities I would love to take full advantage of. That is why I am here. In summer 2022 my school is offering a Madrid abroad internship experience. While I would love nothing more than to apply, book my tickets, and go there is one thing that stands in my way. Money.
Let me tell you why this is a worthwhile experience for me. This program offers the chance to study and live in one of the world’s most dynamic metropolises. I will spend eight weeks living, studying, and interning in Madrid. This intensive program, which takes place at el Instituto Internacional en España, combines a professional internship with a liberal arts course, focusing on either contemporary Spanish culture or modern Spanish writers. I will be able to study in my field of choice, marketing techniques, media, and consumer behavior while working in the marketing/PR department of a Spanish company, multinational firm, or advertising agency.
Currently I am interning at the Boston based company. Here I am a Product Analyst intern and have immersed myself in the B2B marketing spheres as well as learned best practices for content creation and marketing. But why does this matter? Well as someone, who enjoys the flexibility and creativity that comes with marketing Madrid will only take me further on my journey. Not only will I be able to network overseas, but also I will gain the experience to make me a well-rounded candidate for future endeavors during and after college.
Besides my career, Spain has always been a personal dream of mine. I had fallen in love with the idea of seeing the flamenco dancers of Andalucía, visiting La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, tanning on the beaches of Alicante, and eating tapas in Madrid in my high school Spanish class. As a Latina I have always felt removed from my culture because of my lack of fluency. I look forward to this opportunity to practice, improve and put what I’ve learned so far in my Spanish courses to the test.
