Friends and relatives knew Aren as a dreamer with a restless mind, dedicated to his beloved science.
Aren Mher Mehrabyan was born on September 2, 1997, in Yerevan. He received his secondary education at the Anania Shirakatsy Lyceum in Yerevan. After graduating from the Lyceum, he moved to the United States to study Astrophysics.
In 2018, leaving his studies unfinished, Aren returned to Armenia to pay his dues to the Homeland. He served in Tavush province in the Ijevan military unit as a cannoneer. Aren was promoted to the rank of junior sergeant and received multiple awards for excellence in service, conduct and combat training. Aren Mehrabyan was known as the smartest and the best cannoneer of the military unit.
In September 30, 2020, Aren participated in military operations of the Second Artsakh War. He was in the battlefield's most dangerous and hottest spots from the first days of the war. Aren died bravely on October 28 in Martakert, struck by an unmanned aerial vehicle. With his fellow servicemen, Aren had been able to save the lives of his three wounded commanders and has been posthumously awarded the rank of the “Hero,” the “Combat Service” medal and the “Defender of the Homeland” order.
Aren Mehrabyan was a true patriot who loved his parents, siblings, friends, and humankind. He loved Armenia infinitely. Aren, like all other youth, had dreams, above all striving to make his invaluable contribution to the development of science. He had plans. He was turning his dreams into goals, goals - into projects being determined to bring them to life. The Universe was in Aren. Aren was the Universe.
