With cancer, the battle is never really over. Four years ago, Brendan was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, an aggressive form of bone cancer. His medical team promptly amputated his lower right arm, a decision that saved him. A long and painstaking chemotherapy treatment followed, lasting well over a year. We rejoiced in 2021 when Brendan rang his bell at Cardinal Glennon Hospital, marking the victory over his cancer, and held our breath, hoping he would have more time before the next battle began. We had 3 years and are grateful for every minute.

We recently found out the Osteosarcoma has again returned, this time in Brendan's right shoulder. Another surgery is scheduled to amputate as much of the shoulder as possible removing the lethal cancer cells amassed in the bone. Since the moment Brendan was born with missing radius bones and thumbs, he was taught that he had to adapt and become resilient. His rare, genetic condition will once again, mercilessly demand him to adapt and endure such pain and suffering. As we prepare for yet another major surgery with chemotherapy to follow, another horrible diagnosis was made - Brendan is also battling a form of skin cancer, Squamous cell carcinoma. As if one form of cancer was not enough for his body to fight. The catastrophic medical situation puts a lot of drain on his family, including specialized equipment in the home, travel to and from the hospital, food bills, and other medical supplies not covered by insurance. If you know Brendan personally, you know that he doesn't complain or ask for much - besides a good steak now and then.

He can use some additional support - even a humorous card - to lift his spirits and help with the long, arduous road ahead. We are grateful for all the recent prayers and heart-filled notes and for all the love and support given to him throughout the years. Together, let's pray for another miracle...or two.
