Annie's Bernal Bench

Annie Borgenicht was a lover of Bernal Heights who walked her dogs daily on the hill, greeting old friends and making new ones as she went. Annie passed away in Bernal on August 20, 2021 and is deeply missed by her family and her many friends.

The San Francisco Parks Alliance has approved placing a plaque on a Bernal bench to remember and honor Annie. We have chosen the first bench up (west) from the Folsom St gate on the north side of Bernal as Annie’s bench.

The cost and donation to the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department for installing the plaque is $6,000 and we have established a GoFundMe account to offer an opportunity for friends and family to participate by donating towards Annie’s bench. Her family will assure the full donation is made, and request that any donations be submitted to Annie’s Bernal Bench at GoFundMe by December 31, 2021.

We plan to have a celebration for Annie in Spring 2022 when the plaque is installed. Any questions can go to Annie’s brother Roger Borgenicht who is acting as trustee for Annie’s affairs.
