Angel Tree 2020 for Clayton & Perez Families
Our sister school, Perez Elementary, has been deeply impacted by the COVID pandemic. Additionally, over 85% of the families at Perez are economically disadvantaged. Many families that were already living in crisis mode, have lost family members or their jobs, while many are essential workers struggling to manage virtual schooling.
In a typical year, 30-40 families at Perez and 5-10 at Clayton, are identified as needing extra support during the holidays. This year, we’ve agreed to support 72 families.
The Clayton Community Angel Tree is back this year to support our friends in the Perez and Clayton community in need of a boost this holiday season. While Cardinals won’t be passing by beautifully decorated trees in the halls each day this December, the help and generosity of our community is needed more than ever. In addition to toys, many of the items requested in a typical year include blankets, kitchen essentials, socks and underwear and other everyday essentials.
Due to COVID, we won’t be collecting and distributing individual gifts to families this year. Instead, we’re asking the Clayton Community to either donate a gift card from Walmart, Target, Burlington, or Home Depot, or make a donation online on our GoFundMe page. The money raised will be distributed equitably as gift cards among the families .
Our goal is to raise at least $20,000 to meet or exceed the generosity we’ve been able to provide in the past.
