AJ (A Queer Saint) Apartment Robbed
Doação protegida
AJ Carolan, who some of you may know, is an outspoken queer champion, makeup artist, music and fashion enthusiast and all around goddess based in Tulsa, OK. His apartment was recently robbed, and though thankfully he was not home at the time, they took practically everything he owned, including a computer, television, makeup brushes/kit and his cash savings for rent. This would be a devastating loss for anyone, but unlike a lot of us he does not have anyone to fall back on for financial support. I am crowdsourcing his recovery and hoping you can contribute any spare amount to try and fill this void in a wonderful person’s life.
Among other things and most of all, AJ is one of the kindest and most giving people I have ever met. In the nearly fifteen years since we met he has been a support to so many in Tulsa and beyond and never asked for anything in return. A fiercely independent person, he will probably balk at the creation of this fundraiser in his name, but golden people like AJ don’t come around that often and when they need support after providing it to so many, we should all heed the call.
Not only were AJ’s physical possessions violated, so too was the sanctuary of his apartment. He is meticulous in what he brings to live with from home to home and many have seen firsthand what style and panache he has with those interiors. Whether it be from his time in fashion school or just general expertise about high art and culture, AJ is a true renaissance man and queen of culture. The thought that the creative outlets he cherishes in his home are gone is a devastating one, but let’s show him how much he means to us in this time of need. Let’s show everyone else how queer people and their allies take care of one another through tragedy to come out at the other end of the rainbow.
Thank you all so much for your consideration and giving. I can’t think of many more pressing needs than AJ’s in this difficult time.
