Ballet and Modern Dance Performances

 My goal is to stage the Spring Dance Concert 2014 at the Pearl City Cultural Center in Hawaii. I am currently in rehearsals for the dance concert. It is important that I provide my students with many opportunities to perform. My school cannot fund this project. Dance choreography presented on a big stage, provides the choreographer and the dance student a new perspective into the work. I converted our dance studio into a theater, but it only holds 75 people. Every dance artist must experience performing on a big stage. We are the only public school in the state of Hawaii that offers formal ballet and modern dance training. All classes are in the regular day and students take it for a Fine Arts credit. I am committed to reach our students through ballet and modern dance.
I teach ballet and modern dance at Aiea High Dance Program, and direct and choreograph for the Aiea Repertory Dance Company. This program provides formal ballet and modern dance training for the students of the school. Talented students are selected to perform in the Aiea Repertory Dance Company. We are a Title One school and many of our students are disadvantaged, and they cannot afford to take dance classes outside of school.
