Todd is an active outdoor nature lover. Many of his days are spent in the natural surroundings of his home in Arcata, at the nearby marsh, or in his restoration work as an employee of California State Parks. His sturdy, healthy lifestyle was recently interrupted by an urgent need for emergency surgery for a retinal tear and detachment of the retina in his left eye.

A few years ago, Todd temporarily left his job with the park due to personal family issues. Yet, he returned to the State Park job after a brief hiatus. Since that time, insurance benefits have not yet kicked back in. The result is a huge financial weight. The surgery and hospital fees of over ten thousand dollars, with additional days off work and follow-up care, are raising that personal cost considerably. Family loans met the challenge of needing to pay upfront, yet the need to reimburse as soon as possible is imperative.

Todd is not able to return to work for weeks due to the requirement to not be at elevations of over 1,000 feet. Both the travel to Del Norte County, where he now works, involves both travel and work at over 1,000 feet. So, he will lose more workdays and will need to travel from his home county of Humboldt to Sonoma County some of the time for post-op follow-up care.

It is a big consideration for Todd to need and ask for financial help, and yet the need is evident. He has also submitted a GoFundMe request on his own. In an effort to spread the word and to enhance the assistance he needs, this request follows.
