- Hello everyone, my name is Rod S. Caldwell. I live in Birmingham, Alabama, and have been in the same home for almost 60 years. After the death of my husband, Adon Spears, on 6/14/24, my health has taken a downward spiral. After a brutal attack from a gay-hating person, I was beaten in my own driveway so badly that I had to go to the hospital with a broken nose and orbit, and a concussion that required two months of treatment. This may have been the cause of these ongoing neurological conditions I have now that are very similar to Parkinson's disease. I use Parkinson's medications for the shaking, vocal distortion, and facial distortion. I had lumbar fusion on the same date that my husband died, strange coincidence! Plus, I am physically disabled because of mental illness, bipolar with rapid cycling, and now PTSD caused by the beating I sustained. I do not often ask for help; I'm usually the one giving or doing, but at 64 years old, with my physical health deteriorating, I am now being forced out of my ancestral home property that's been in my family for 150 years by a very powerful person. That's all I can say on that issue. However, after that attack, my health rapidly worsened. I tell you all of this because I'm being evicted and moved out of my home. I have less than 28 days to relocate and vacate. I was given very short notice, but I'm doing the best I can. I can't do it all alone. I live on SSDI, $1,900 a month, with about $450 of that going towards medications. I need some help, so any friends and family that can possibly help with donations or even help me move will be greatly and divinely appreciated.
