Aid Michael's Stroke Rehabilitation Efforts

Dear friends, family, and compassionate supporters,

We are reaching out to share the story of Michael J. O'Kane, a dedicated husband, father, and patriot who has devoted over 41 years of his life to serving our country and community. Now, Michael needs our help in this challenging time.

Michael resides with his beloved wife, Beatriz O'Kane, his son Sebastian, his daughter Zoe, and his mother-in-law, “Mama Gole”. He has also been a great source of support for his daughter Emily, who is currently attending college at UNC Charlotte. Throughout his life, Michael has selflessly served in various capacities. After joining the Air Force in 1984, he went on to serve in the Air National Guard and Army Reserve. Michael became a police officer for the City of Philadelphia from 1995 to 2002. Following the tragic events of 9/11, he joined the Department of Homeland Security as a Federal Law Enforcement Officer in 2002, where he continues to serve to this day.

Throughout his extensive career, Michael has given his all for our country and his community, consistently putting his own safety on the line to protect and serve others. His commitment and bravery are qualities we deeply admire, and now it is our turn to support him in his time of need.

Recently, Michael experienced a severe systemic stroke caused by a blood clot in his brain. This has left him paralyzed on the left side of his body, and he requires extensive rehabilitation to aid his recovery. He is currently receiving care at Penn State Health and Rehabilitation Hospital.

Unfortunately, the insurance coverage for his outpatient sessions is limited, and Michael will need ongoing treatment to regain his strength and mobility. He requires an RT300 Bike by RTI for STIM therapy, which is essential for his rehabilitation but comes at a significant cost.

We are humbly asking for your assistance during this difficult time. Any contribution, no matter how small, will go directly towards Michael's medical expenses, including his ongoing treatment at Penn State Health and the purchase of the RT300 Bike, allowing him to regain mobility and improve his quality of life.
