As highlighted in our Quarterly Newsletter, on Saturday 8th May, Pieta House, plans to hold its biggest fundraising event of the year - Darkness into Light. Over the years, this event has been heavily supported by AIB employees, fundraising together by walking into the sunrise to help Pieta House's work to provide free therapy to those self-harming, with suicidal ideation, or those bereaved by suicide.
Although facilitating a large gathering in solidarity will unfortunately not be possible, Pieta is inviting everyone across all locations to show community and solidarity with those impacted by suicide, by getting up at 5:30am on 8th May to watch the sunrise from their home.
The world has changed rapidly in the last 12 months. Plans have been made, only to be cancelled shortly afterwards. Businesses have adapted, parents have become substitute teachers, and hugs are on hold.
More people than ever before are relying on the lifesaving services that Pieta provides free of charge, to those in suicidal distress, those who are self-harming and those who have been bereaved by suicide. But there is hope.
You can help keep these essential services available to those who need them most, especially during these uncertain times, by helping us in Business Banking CIB reach our fundraising goal on 8th May. The gift you donate today could mean that one more call can be answered to someone in suicidal distress, one more person can get the help they need, when they need it, and one more family can be spared from the devastating heartbreak of suicide.
