Sol Eisenberg and Izzy Green, co-founders of Evergreen Insurance & Risk Management who sit on the Board of Bnei Yakov Yosef, implemented the Heart for a Soul program in 2010. They have been actively involved in the fundraising efforts necessary to support the program's annual budget of $200,000.
The Heart for a Soul program ensures that no child falls through the cracks; rather, each child gets the unique support they need to thrive today and succeed in the future. We can't afford to let financial cutbacks hinder the success of this integral community program
This year, the school suffered major cutbacks in government funding which covered 30% of the annual budget in previous years. In this campaign, we need to raise at least $50,000 to bridge the gap and ensure the program will continue growing strong and provide much needed support
A message from Sol and Izzy: "In our business, we deal with financial risk management on a daily basis. But nothing is more urgent or important than risk management on a human level, especially when it comes to protecting and empowering our children. There is no better policy than the insurance of future generations. Please help us raise the necesarry funds for our childrens' school. Some background:
Founded in 2006, Bnei Yakov Yosef is a Spring Valley-based all-boys cheider (school) that runs pre-nursery through 9th grade. Under the caring leadership of Rabbi Yitzchok Shaul Pal, Rabbi Sender Smith and Rabbi Yisroel Nuchem Curland, the school is built around its core mission: Treating each child like a Ben Yachid - an only son. This means that each and every student gets the same individualized attention, care and support that one would give their own precious child.
Educators at Bnei Yakov Yosef understand that each child has unique learning styles, challenges, and needs. In the Heart for a Soul remedial program, Executive Director Rabbi Shmuel Chaim Silber and his team work tirelessly to ensure that each boy receives the customized support to best meet their needs and help them thrive emotionally, socially, spiritually and academically.
The entire student body has access to the remedial services if the need arises, so no one is left to fall through the cracks. Currently, 35% of students benefit from the program. Bnei Yakov Yosef's remedial services span from basic tutoring and reading support to one-on-one sessions with ADD/ADHD and behavioral specialists, psychologists, speech language pathologists and physical therapists.
Whether a student needs someone to speak to about difficulties at home, an opportunity to review new material, or specific therapies to address behavioral or learning challenges, the full scope of services are available to them. Every child gets the unique tools they need to thrive at school and beyond.
