Acute Auto Immune Hepatitis Funeral of Tiffany

Donation protected
Sunday the 7th of March Heaven gained a beautiful Angel and we had to say goodbye to a beautiful Soul. Tiffany Graham-Walters was a daughter, a fiancé, a sister, a niece, a cousin, a granddaughter, an auntie and a colleague. Above all titles Tiffany was an amazing resilient friend to all those she encountered.

On the 1st of January 2021 Tiffany started to feel unwell she developed symptoms such as severe abdominal pains, constipation, vomiting and an inability to retain food. These symptoms persisted and after 10 days her skin and eyes started to turn yellow and she went straight to the hospital. A blood test was carried out and Tiffany was discharged, pending blood test results. Various obstacles hindered immediate and accurate medical intervention. Her initial bloods taken were misplaced delaying her results. She was admitted to a hospital, that for two weeks did not detect her condition. She was then sent to Birmingham Queen Elizabeth hospital, where her condition was detected on her arrival, at this point Tiffany’s Liver had failed. She was placed on the emergency liver transplant list in the U.K. and received a donor within 7 hours. She was then transferred to Leeds hospital to conduct the transplant. The transplant was successful. Despite the last minute intervention all efforts proved too late as a series of deterioration followed, pancreatitis, kidney damage, blood clots and the list goes on. Subsequent to her Health deterioration the replacement liver failed.

Acute Auto Immune Hepatitis is an under-researched anomaly that studies show requires early intervention, and is something that requires immediate treatment. The timescale in which this condition is treated in, is a matter of life or death. It is known to be one of the 5 main leading causes of death for young people aged 20-34 as of 2018, also being one of the top 3 for women. This disease was something which took our beloved Tiffany way too soon. There is a profound stigma surrounding it and it is something we as a family would like to raise awareness of, so that Acute Auto Immune Hepatitis can gain recognition within medical frameworks regarding the specifics and diagnostics of this disease. This is one of the many reasons it is imperative that medical research is conducted, as it has very diverse archetype. This is with the hope that other families do not have to endure the pain we have had from our loss.

Important things to know about Acute Auto Immune Disease:

·       Causes are still unknown

·       Therapeutic and medical interventions have not been developed or changed since 1971

·       Acute Auto Immune Hepatitis is a rarity that attacks the body like a virus, causing an adverse reaction to liver function

·       The pathogenic perspective is a loss of tolerance against the liver of the individual diagnosed

·        Further information is needed on the natural history and mortality rate of the disease

·       The disease occurs when your body has an inflammatory reaction to liver cells

·       Early intervention allows for the body to be treated with drugs that suppress the immune system

Our goal is to better improve the lives of every single person affected by this disease, raising awareness on the most promising opportunities to find a cure, better treatment of patients affected and the prevention of Acute Auto Immune Hepatitis.

We understand these are trying times, and we would all appreciate any donation whether great or small. This will help go towards the funeral costs and memorial service and we would be extremely grateful.

We as a collective want to say this page is to help give a beautiful spirit an amazing final resting place, but above all else we want to raise awareness to save others. Thank you for your time and consideration at this hard time.
