Academic Precariat Writing Support
Donation protected
Following the recent publication of a poorly informed article in The Conversation that drastically misrepresents the experience of casual academia, we are seeking to fund some writing by actual casual/precariously employed academics that talks to this significant issue.
Natalie Osborne and myself are putting the call out to tenured academics (and others) who would like to pledge some money to help support casual academics to write about this topic. We have suggested donating 1 hours wage as a starting point.
Following the Twitter thread that started this drive, we already have over 20 casual academics collaborating on ideas for writing projects, multiple offers from outlets interested in publishing work and generous offers from academics and editors for mentoring assistance.
All we need now is some funding to support the work!
Cheers,
Nat and Ben
