En febrero de 2021 nuestro papá fue hospitalizado de emergencia debido a una erisipela en el pie derecho que se agravó por su condición de diabético. Desde ese momento su salud y condiciones físicas se han visto muy desmejoradas. En 2022 fue hospitalizado por COVID y a inicios de este año nuevamente, esta vez, por problemas en el sistema renal. Han sido hospitalizaciones prolongadas en las que afortunadamente hemos podido contar –parcialmente- con el soporte de su seguro médico.

Después de la primera hospitalización, su condición ha exigido chequeos recurrentes, exámenes y tratamientos, que han ayudado a mantener su salud medianamente estable.

En este momento vuelve a presentarse un problema en el mismo pie, que obliga a una intervención quirúrgica con carácter de emergencia para evitar complicaciones mayores.

En estos años hemos asumido, con optimismo y movidos por el amor que le tenemos a nuestros padres, el compromiso de apoyarlos tanto como podamos, inclusive más allá de nuestras posibilidades. También hemos contado con el apoyo incondicional de nuestras familias.

Hoy recurrimos a quien pueda ayudarnos para superar esta nueva dificultad, agradecidos y confiados en que vendrán tiempos mejores.

Con mi papá puedo hablar francamente de todos los aspectos de mi vida. Siempre tiene explicaciones que me ayudan a entender los porqués.

Mi familia y yo vivimos en Dallas - Texas, y con cada videollamada puedo ver la conexión que mi papá y mi hijo tienen sin haberse conocido en persona, es conmovedor.

Amo a mi papá.

Sus rapidographs especializados en dibujos técnicos regados por la mesa, juguetes para mi yo de 7 años. Lo acompañaba, él haciendo interminables cálculos y bocetos con perfectas líneas a pulso mientras yo perfeccionaba mi dibujo de Bugs Bunny, nos trasnochábamos.

Mi papá me incentiva siempre a imaginar y dibujar, herramientas que uso día a día y me han permitido abrirme y mostrarme en este mundo.

Mi papá es mi fan número 1.

In February 2021 our dad was hospitalized with an infection in his right foot that was caused by diabetes. Since that time, his health and physical conditions have deteriorated considerably. In 2022 he was hospitalized with COVID and again with kidney problems in 2023. These conditions have resulted in long hospital stays, but fortunately, our families have been able to raise enough funds to cover the costs.

He's required to attend on-going examinations and treatments to remain in stable health, but an infection has returned to his foot and surgery is required to prevent further complications.

We have remained optimistic and continue to support our parents as they have done for us and others over the years. Unfortunately, our families have maxed out what can be done financially and are exploring all possibilities to help our father. We need to raise funds to help with surgery costs and on-going treatments.

It’s difficult to ask for help but our family would be forever grateful if you were able to donate for this next surgery.

I’ve always been able to talk openly with my father about all aspects of my life. Personal or professional, he listens, understands and no matter the response, I feel at ease because I know his answer is always what is in my best interest.

We live in Dallas, Texas. Although, we aren’t physically near one another our connection via video chats is a blessing. My son hasn’t met his grandfather in person but the connection they have on-line is undeniable and genuine.

From my parents, I have received much love and wisdom. In each of them, I recognize what I have voluntarily and happily assumed as part of my way of being, of seeing the world and life. In many ways, I became the man I am today because of my parents.

I love my dad.

He specialized in rapidographs technical drawings scattered around the table, toys for my 7-year-old self. I accompanied him while doing endless calculations and sketches with perfect freehand lines while I perfected my drawing of Bugs Bunny, we stayed up all night.

My dad always encourages me to imagine and draw, tools that I use every day and have allowed me to open up and show myself in this world.

My dad is my number 1 fan.
