Help a Mother Reunite with Her Only Child for his Birthday

Help Me Reunite with My Son & Fulfill His Birthday Wish

Hello, my name is Athena. I'm a 39-year-old mother, and I'm reaching out not just as someone in need—but as a mom trying desperately to hold on for her child.

This isn't easy to write. It's hard to ask for help. But when you're a mother watching your child grow up from a distance, knowing his heart is breaking too… you’ll do anything.

My Story

Last October, my life changed. I suffered a severe injury while working—a traumatic accident that smashed my left hip and tore internal tissue. The damage is permanent. I live every day in pain from a labrum tear that may never fully heal.

As if that wasn’t enough, I lost my job soon after and was denied unemployment. I’ve been out of work for 8 months now, stuck in limbo, relying on crutches and unable to take jobs due to my doctor’s restrictions. The financial and emotional toll has been crushing.

To make things worse, I lost my car this past Monday. It was repossessed. That was my last bit of independence—and my only way to see my son.

My Son, Vinny

Vinny is my whole world and he’s turning 11 on July 1st. He's been living in Florida with his grandmother since my separation from his father. Tragically, we lost his dad to liver failure not long ago. It devastated us all—especially Vinny.

Through everything, he’s stayed strong, but this year, for his birthday, he asked for just one thing:
"Mom, can you take me to the beach?"
Something so simple. So innocent. Something every child should be able to enjoy with the person they love most.

He doesn’t want toys or parties. He just wants his mom.
And I don’t want to break his heart again.

Why I'm Asking for Help

I have no income. No vehicle. No resources. I’m dealing with depression (MDD) and post-trauma disorder, battling every day just to keep my head above water. I’ve done everything I could to stay strong, to figure it out on my own—but I can't do this alone anymore.

I need help with:

• A reliable vehicle that can make the trip from South Carolina to Florida and back

• Vehicle tag and registration

• Fuel for the trip

• Modest lodging and food while traveling

• Enough stability to bring my son home for a bit and give him the joy he so badly needs.

..There isn't much time left.. June 28th is the last day for donations..

This isn’t just a birthday trip.
This is about healing.
This is about showing a little boy that his mom is still fighting for him.
This is about giving him hope and love in the middle of pain and loss.

How You Can Help?

Every dollar matters. Every share spreads the word to someone who might be in a place to help. If you can give, thank you from the depths of my heart. If you can’t, please just share this and help me reach someone who can.

This world can feel so dark—but I believe in kindness. I believe in second chances. I believe there are still people out there who care. If you’re reading this, maybe you’re one of them.

Let’s make this miracle happen. Not for me—but for a boy who just wants his mom and a day at the beach.

With all my love and gratitude,
Athena & Vinny
