This fundraiser is in honor of my dad, Tim Brooks, who recently passed away. We are raising money to place a memorial bench at one of his favorite spots in the world—the Wright Brothers Multi Use Path in the Outer Banks, North Carolina.

The Outer Banks was more than just a vacation destination for my dad—it was his happy place. Every summer, he and my mom would visit with their dog, Finley, and enjoy the beautiful sunsets at this park. It was where he felt most at peace, and he often talked about one day retiring there.

When he passed, we knew there was no better place to spread his ashes than in this park that meant so much to him. Now, we’d love to honor his memory with a bench along the path—a quiet spot where others can sit, reflect, and maybe even feel a little of the peace he found there.

This bench will also be a gift for my mom. She shared so many wonderful memories with him in this place, and we plan to surprise her with the bench during our Thanksgiving trip to the Outer Banks this year.

We are hoping to raise $1,700 total—$1,400 for the bench itself and $300 for a plaque that will include a short message in his memory.
