A Healing Journey From Skin Cancer
Donazione protetta
Hi Everyone, its Jennifer.
I am fundraising for my healing and recovery from Stage 3 Metastatic Melanoma. On November 17th 2022, I received a diagnosis of Malignant Melanoma (Skin Cancer). Using the word Devastation would be an understatement of how I felt. It was completely earth-shattering for me, and for my husband, who was there with me when I got the news. I was confused, angry and above all else scared. Scared for my future, for what this means for our son Ace who just turned 5. You instantly start imagining your life without yourself in it, it's a dark and difficult place to be.
Back in September 2022, I noticed a small lump in my neck right under my right ear lobe. It was hard and didn't move. This was concerning so I made an appointment with my Primary care doctor and ran all the normal tests, drew blood and showed her my lump. Her response was "It's probably nothing." Those words are triggering for me now. I knew in my heart that it wasn’t “nothing”, but my doctor wasn't concerned and I didn't press the issue, which was my mistake. All my tests came back normal and I didn't have any other symptoms so I went about my life. About 7 weeks passed and I noticed the lump got significantly bigger. I went back to my PCP and she became extremely concerned and set up all the necessary appointments. Everything moved very quickly after that point, and in a little over a week, after an ultrasound, MRI and biopsy, my life had changed forever.
Working as a Colon hydrotherapist for 5 years, and being in the holistic world, I knew I wanted to go about treatment in a very specific way. I wanted to find a more integrative approach to treating my cancer. I learned very quickly that I was going to have to do this on my own, since the standard of care for treating cancer is very specific and leaves no room for alternative therapies. Even though I was able to start working with the director of Melanoma, at one of the top hospitals in NYC, I immediately started focusing on food, supplementation and detox practices. I knew I had to try to give myself a leg up to combat the symptoms from the hospital treatments that were going to be intense.
Six months after my diagnosis, I have now gone through immunotherapy treatment, neck dissection surgery, and radiation. It's hard to put into words what this experience has been like for me, and for the people who have been taking care of me. It has been quite scary at times and full of desperation, but I always knew there was something better out there. I am optimistic that I will heal my body from the root cause of this disease. This is why I am going to HOPE4CANCER to fully immerse myself in the world of healing, detoxification, and cellular rejuvenation.
On May 8th, I will be going to the healing clinic in Mexico for the next 3 weeks. Cancer treatments at HOPE4CANCER focus on treating the person and getting to the root cause of the disease. Unfortunately the costs for this type of care are significant, and completely out of pocket, so I am reaching out for support. I humbly ask for any donation that will help me and my families journey. I am incredibly touched by the love, support and generosity I have received already. My family and I are so grateful and thank you for your time in reading this regardless of any financial donation. No donation is too small, but ultimately its your loving thoughts, prayers and energy that are the motivational force behind my recovery. I want to thank you for your continued love and support.
With Lots of Love,
Jennifer
