A Good Man - A Long Fight
Donazione protetta
It's not always easy to accept the realities of life. The good times are always easier to celebrate than the hard times are to survive. Such is the case of our friend and colleague Mr. Shane Cook. Shane brings the enthusiasm to a good attitude, the fun and excitement to his job and embraces the daily challenges of motivating his sales staff and taking care of his family.
He is truly gifted at his craft by day, and an accomplished singer and artist by night. As a sales manager at Mac Haik Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM in Georgetown, TX, Shane epitomizes the age old adage that selling is nothing more than the effective transfer of enthusiasm. He spends his free time on his two greatest passions; his family (wife Rhonda and son Asher) and being an accomplished singer and recording artist. You can catch his music videos on Youtube @ shanecook2400. Shane is almost bigger than life, it's hard to be in a bad mood when you're around him. A hard working man, a family man, a working man ... and now a man fighting the good fight.
On Sunday, September 24th, while at home with his family, Shane collapsed, stopped breathing and was suffering the near fatal effects of a heart attack brought on by a Grand Mall seizure. After receiving CPR from his wife and son, ambulatory and EMT care, Shane remained in a medically induced coma, intubated, for the week that followed. His progress has been slow and calculated, but positive and hopeful. He's moved off of intubation, is breathing on his own now and starting to eat regular food. He is cognitive of what happened, responsive to friends and family and following all of his doctors commands and instructions. As he prepares for rehabilitation, there is still a long way to go and a lot of work to do. His friends, family and colleagues have no doubt that Shane is strong enough to tackle whatever life throws at him. He'll survive, he'll make it through and he'll put in the work required to get back to motivating and entertaining people and living the life he loves.
As that unfolds though, there's no hiding from the sheer expense of extended hospital and ICU stays, long term medical rehabilitation and income loss. I post this as a professional colleague, and I know his family appreciates in advance anything that they receive to mitigate the financial burden. I'm sure soon enough Shane will write and sing a song about it for all of us. But until then, thank you for reading about Shane and thank you for any amount of prayers and support you are able to show. Cheers.
