Standing with Matt & Laura

Update Matt sadly lost his battle on Sunday 15th June 2025 at 05:55am. Laura has spent months tirelessly supporting Matt in the care home, hospital and hospice in the final days. I want to keep this page going to support Laura with funeral costs and ongoing support for the children.

Hi, my name is Ashley.

In December last year, my brother-in-law Matt was diagnosed with cancer of the lung and spine, after months of struggling with back pain. He’s been undergoing treatment ever since, but heartbreakingly, Matt is no longer receiving chemotherapy and is now being cared for with a focus on comfort and time with his family. Matt is just 39 years old.

Through this page, I’m hoping to raise £1,000 for my sister Laura, Matt, and their four young boys. This news has been devastating for our whole family, and I want to help ease some of the financial pressure they’re facing during this incredibly difficult time.

Many people in their wider network—through school, sport, and the local community—have asked how they can help. We’re hoping to share this page as widely as possible so that those who know and care about the family have a way to show their support.

If we can reach our goal of £1,000, it would be a huge help. Laura and Matt can then choose how and when to use the funds in whatever way is most helpful for them.
