A Dad’s Only Wish: To See His Boys Grow Up

Hello My name is Lukasz, I’m 41, originally from Poland.

Back in 2016, my wife Sonia and I moved to the UK to build a better life.

Since then, we’ve been blessed with two amazing boys - Kacper (5) and Oliwier (4). They fill our days with laughter, energy, and of course best kind of chaos too :) !

At the beginning of June, I went to the hospital with stomach pain. I honestly thought it was something simple, like appendicitis. But after surgery, the doctors told me my appendix had a tumour on it. More tests/scans followed, and then came the devastating news: I have a malignant tumour of the peritoneum, with metastasis to my liver.

In simpler words, it’s an aggressive stage 4 cancer that has already spread. I’m currently on chemotherapy because the oncologist explained that surgery cannot be done - the cancer has spread too much. My only alternative is to look into potential treatments abroad (in the US, Germany, or Poland), but these are extremely expensive and sadly not covered by the NHS.

I’m usually a positive, energetic person who tries to keep smiling no matter what… but I have to admit, I am scared now. Scared that I won’t see my kids grow up next to me. Scared that I have little time left. But more than anything, I want to fight - for Sonia, for Kacper, and for Oliwier, for my whole family. They are my whole world...

It’s not easy to ask for help. Sometimes one has to put embarrassment in his pocket and just fight with everything for his family.

That’s what I want to do… please help me with this fight :(

The treatments I need are urgent and very costly. On top of that, there are extra expenses for travel, care, and day-to-day living while I focus on getting well. The financial pressure is something we simply cannot face alone.
