A Call for Help: Supporting Our Beloved Teacher in Her Need

I am reaching out today with a humble heart to share the story of someone very dear to me—my former Calculus teacher in the Philippines, Ms. Geraldine Garcia, a woman whose dedication, intelligence, and kindness have inspired countless students, including myself.

Since 2021, Ms. Garcia has faced unimaginable health challenges. While working in China as an educator, she fell into a coma for several days. It was later discovered that she had been silently battling endometrial cancer. Amid the uncertainty of the pandemic, she managed to return to the Philippines for urgent medical care. She underwent life-saving surgery and, despite the odds, bravely fought her way back to life.

However, her struggles didn’t end there. Due to complications from diabetes, a wound on her leg became severely infected, which sadly led to amputation. Today, she dreams of regaining her mobility and independence by acquiring a prosthetic leg, but the cost is beyond her means.

We are now hoping to raise AUD 7,000 (approximately PHP 250,000) to help cover the cost of the prosthetic leg and her ongoing medication and care. This amount can significantly change her life—helping her walk again and manage her health with dignity and hope.
